Dragon Scale Mitts Pattern Download
This design has a large thumb opening which is non-binding and allows for full range of motion. I enjoy using multi-tone heather or hand-painted yarns for added visual interest. For a longer mitt, knit additional rows until your desired length. For a wider width, a larger needle can be used which will not interrupt the rib design. The wrist length is REVERSIBLE by just exchanging the hands. The longer length mitts are not as easily reversible; they can be sewn with the scales forward or scales backward.
Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn, beautiful in heather or variegated color-ways 60-80 yards for wrist, mid-arm (140-160 yards), long lengths (180-200 yards), shown in Dream Hand-paint Worsted.
Scales: (approximate number needed so you can remove any damaged scales and still have enough): all sizes by length, wrist 150, mid-arm 300, long 400 scales (9/16 by 7/8 with .22 hole). The scales can be purchased on our website.
